Stoke boss Hughes beaming after Shaqiri capture

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes was absolutely delighted after landing Xherdan Shaqiri on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old Swiss winger has become the Potters' ninth summer signing after penning a five-year deal for a club record fee of £12million.

After completing the capture of former Bayern Munich star Shaqiri from Inter Milan, Hughes spoke glowingly of the new arrival who could feature in this weekend's trip to Tottenham.

"He's a dynamic and explosive player who will bring something different to the group and at the age of 23 he still has a great deal of potential," Hughes told the club's official website.

"In the chats I've had with him it's obvious that he's excited about playing in the Premier League and showing what he's capable of."

Shaqiri follows Jakob Haugaard, Philipp Wollscheid, Joselu, Marco van Ginkel, Shay Given, Glen Johnson, Moha El Ouriachi and Ibrahim Afellay to the Britannia Stadium.
