Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has explained his reasons for not playing Raheem Sterling in the 6-1 defeat against Stoke City.
The 20-year old winger has been making headlines after his agent reportedly declared that he won't sign a new deal at Anfield even for £900,000-a-week wages.
"With Raheem, there has been a lot going on over the past number of weeks and I felt there were other players mentally positioned to play in the game," said Rodgers after the season ended in disappointing fashion for the Reds.
Sterling continues to be linked with a summer exit with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City all showing considerable interest.
