Brisbane Roar defender Shane Stefanutto admits he was lucky to have found the perfect home when he changed clubs in April. The 30-year old left North Queensland Fury after one injury-plagued season and just seven games following his move back home from Norway to join the Roar where he has been an integral part of their climb up the ladder.

Stefanutto acknowledges that the stars somewhat aligned for him to complete the move and is extremely glad it went the way it did.

"It just got to the point at North Queensland where it was a little bit unknown and luckily Brisbane were looking for a left-back," he told Australian Football Weekly.

"I started my football here in Brisbane and I've got family around the Brisbane area so it was an attractive offer and now looking back on it, I'm really happy to be here.

"The family's really happy and all the off-field stuff is happy, so that ensures the on-field stuff goes even better."

And the on-field stuff has been great for Stefanutto who has helped the Roar go second on the A-League table as he chases a first title for both he and the club.

"I haven't won anything yet and I'm getting to a point where I'm not saying that my career is ending, but I've got maybe five years left and I wanted to jump straight into success," he added.

"I wanted to be successful, I want to win things and I felt just from talking to the boss (Ange Postecoglou) about it straight away that we had a similar way of thinking and we were on a similar path."
