St Mirren boss Gus Macpherson will need a second trial game before deciding whether to offer a contract to former Kilmarnock midfielder Allan Johnston. The 36 year old played an hour of Saturday's 3-1 friendly defeat by Wigan Athletic.

MacPherson said: "He is a very good professional, but we will need to wait and see how things go before making any decisions.

"We will probably have another look at him and try to arrange a game for him sometime next week."
