Celtic starlet Scott Cuthbert has joined St Mirren on a one-year loan deal.

Buddies boss Gus MacPherson pushed through a deal for the Scotland Under-21 defender after losing Marc McAusland to injury and seeing Will Haining sent off in Sunday's narrow defeat to Celtic.

MacPherson admitted his delight at capturing the big centre-half who can also fill in at right-back.

"Hopefully it's a deal that will work out for both parties. I think he'll add real quality to us.
