St Mirren boss Gus MacPherson was named the Clydesdale Bank Premier League manager of the month for October. They went into the month having won only one of their opening seven SPL games but pulled off a shock 1-0 victory over then-leaders Rangers, which they followed up with a 2-1 win at promoted Hamilton.

MacPherson's reward was to see the Saints climb up to ninth in the league.
