St Johnstone hero Steven Anderson believes the club fully deserved their victory in the weekend's Scottish Cup final.
The 28-year old defender scored the opening goal as the Saints defeated Dundee United 2-0 at Celtic Park on Saturday and felt that the Perth club's performance thoroughly warranted the result which gave them a first Scottish Cup in their history.
"We deserved that at the end. We got a bit of luck to be fair and I think that's what you need in cup finals," Anderson said.
"We were in a decent run of form - I know we played well last week - but everybody was focused on the final. But, to be honest, I think we deserved it in the end and it's about time this club won something.
"It was a good year for a testimonial as well, but I'm just delighted for everyone at the club."
Anderson netted in the 45th minute before Steven MacLean wrapped up the triumph six minutes from time.
