St Johnstone: Death by football!

St Johnstone have found a new revenue stream - the club is now hosting FUNERALS, reports the Scottish Sun. Up to six services a day are held at the club's McDiarmid Park ground - which sits conveniently next door to Perth's crematorium.

Club marketing chief Fraser Bruce said a handful of services have included ashes being scattered on the pitch, but added: "It's once in a blue moon.

"Most funerals are simply for members of the community.

"I would guess we're the most popular location for funerals in the town.

"It helps that we're practically next door to the crematorium. We're on good terms with local funeral directors.

"We have a minimum of two per day but often up to six or seven."

Services are held in the club's conference rooms, which provide food and drink for up to 130 mourners.

Bruce added: "In the current economic climate you need to try to identify new revenue streams."

"The only downside is that it's difficult to book in advance for Saturday weddings, because we don't always know what the fixtures will be."
