Newcastle United defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is in talks with Saint-Etienne.
Les Verts have moved ahead of RC Lens, Marseille and Bordeaux in the race for Yanga-Mbiwa, who is available from the Toon this summer.
The defender is viewed by St Etienne as a replacement for Kurt Zouma, who has completed his move to Chelsea.
