Melbourne Heart midfielder Wayne Srhoj needs to clean up his act according to coach John van 't Schip.

Srhoj is currently serving a two-match suspension which came about after picking up eight yellow cards in 16 matches and his absence from the team has created headaches for his coach.

van 't Schip will also be without creative playmaker Josip Skoko for the next two matches because of injury and has blamed Srhoj's ill discipline for the gaping hole in the centre of the Heart's midfield.

"Josip is not going to play and Wayne is suspended, and that's our midfield,'' van 't Schip said yesterday.

''They were doing very well together. We have to come up with something else for two games. We are looking at what we can do. We have got three games next week. If we come through that well we have done an OK job.

''Eight [yellow cards for Srhoj] … it's too much … I think a few of them are indisciplined. We had talks with Wayne … the season is getting to its important games now [and he is missing]. A lot of his yellow cards were not for a foul, some were for talking … he knows he has to work on it.

''He is playing very well. On one side we are very happy with him. On the other side he is most frustrated himself about it. He is getting yellow cards too easy.''

The Heart take on Gold Coast United at Skilled Park this Sunday - kick-off is at 4:00pm local time (5:00pm AEDT).
