Spurs striker Kane happy Southgate remains England coach

England star Harry Kane has opened up about the World Cup and his relationship with coach Gareth Southgate.

Kane, who was on the scoresheet for Tottenham during an emphatic win over Crystal Palace, missed a pivotal penalty for the Three Lions in Qatar.

His miss resulted in a 2-1 loss to France in the quarter finals, but Kane is fully focused on the European Championships in 2024.

“I'm really happy [he's staying]," Kane said of Southgate to the Evening Standard.

“I feel like there's some unfinished business there and he's a fantastic coach. We've been close now on a few occasions. We looked strong in the tournament and it was small details that ended up not going our way. It will be nice to have another go at the Euros with the same team and staff.

“We hadn't spoken [before Southgate's decision to stay on]. We spoke after the France game and we had a day or so just to reflect, but it's his decision. I didn't want to put any pressure on him and he knows how much we enjoy playing under him.

“He's been fantastic for me and a lot of other players. Business starts in March again and we'll be ready."
