Tottenham hope to beat big spending rivals to the signing of Burnley striker Danny Ings.
The Mirror says Tottenham are considering making a £5million bid for Ings before next Monday's transfer deadline.
Chelsea and Manchester City - both keen to increase their number of homegrown players - are also monitoring Ings' situation.
But Spurs may try to steal a march on their rivals this month because of their concerns about missing out if they become involved in an auction for Ings in the summer. Burnley boss Sean Dyche has maintained that his seven-goal top scorer Ings is going nowhere this month.
But the Clarets will have a decision to make if Spurs table an offer worth more than the compensation fee Burnley stand to receive in the summer.
