Tottenham and Newcastle United legend Chris Waddle hopes Manchester City brings Robinho back to the Premiership.
In his column for the People, Waddle opined: "The World Cup always throws up a surprise or two and maybe at this one we are going to see the real Robinho.
"There's no doubt the boy has fantastic talent and this could be the perfect stage for him to prove a few people wrong and remind everyone why Manchester City paid £32.5million for him.
"His move to City hasn't worked out but for me he remains one of the players you'd still want in the Premier League.
"We've lost Ronaldo and Thierry Henry to La Liga in recent seasons and Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Vidic could join the talent drain to Spain. That's no good if we want English football to be THE League to watch in Europe. So I'm hoping Robinho has a great World Cup and then comes back to City for next season. But I suspect that if he does shine, City might cash in even if they won't get their initial outlay back."
