Former Tottenham manager and star Ossie Ardiles has hailed the impact made by manager Harry Redknapp.

"He's has come in and made an immediate impact," Ardiles - who had a spell as manager at White Hart Lane in the 1990s - said at the opening day of Soccerex 08 in Johannesburg.

"I certainly believe that Juande Ramos is a very good manager, but completely different to Harry.

"Maybe Harry is more for English football I would say and Juande is good for Spanish football.

"It's a great opportunity for Harry now because he's always been with smaller clubs, with respect to them. Now he's at Tottenham, a big, big club, so we will see what could happen.

"Seeing the situation with Juande Ramos, it looked as though there was something maybe broken between the players and their manager.

"Certainly they were good players, but they were not responding to the challenge, so suddenly something had to give.

"And now Harry has come in and suddenly we are talking about a totally different team. To be perfectly honest, it was a kind of miracle and he's made a beautiful start."
