Tottenham are ready to wrap up the signing of highly-rated Blackburn centre-back Ashley Phillips.

Per the Evening Standard, the North London club are close to securing the young defender manager Ange Postecoglou has been seeking.

The London outfit were hoping to secure a cut price deal, but Blackburn have insisted on a fee close to £9.5 million with add-ons.

The 18-year-old is rated by many teams, but is determined to sign for Spurs this summer.

Spurs are focused on paying a low initial fee for Phillips, but they are willing to compromise on add-ons.

Most of those would be performance related, which means they would only be paid if he is a first team star.
