Tottenham are ready to make Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso a priority target.
While talks have been held with ex-Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann, the Mirror says Alonso is now chairman Daniel Levy's top target.
Levy is willing to pay Alonso's buyout clause - believed to be the equivalent of one year's salary.
However, despite Spurs' interest, Alonso said last week: "I've been in football for many years, rumours are normal but we still have a lot to achieve.
"That's why my head is 100 per cent here for the last few months. And my head is also 100 per cent here for next season."
