Tottenham have gone cold on their bid for Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing.
The Daily Mail says Spurs made an £8million offer on Sunday night and, at different times, are also believed to have offered Jermain Defoe, Darren Bent, Teemu Tainio, Paul Robinson or Kevin-Prince Boateng as part of the deal.
The club's pursuit of Downing is mainly the work of sporting director Damien Comolli, having had him on his wish-list since he joined the club in 2005, but coach Juande Ramos is not convinced.
Middlesbrough want £12m for the England midfielder and the former Sevilla coach is believed to have told club officials that he does not think he is worth the money.
