Spurs ace Van der Vaart determined to get one over Man City pair Silva, Aguero

Tottenham ace Rafael van der Vaart is gunning for Manchester City pair David Silva and Sergio Aguero.

The Dutchman knows his rivals from their La Liga days are crucial to City's success.

Van der Vaart told the Daily Star: "During my stay in Real Madrid I played against Silva and Kun (Sergio) Aguero a number of times and I must say most of those games ended up with me being on the winning side.

"Perhaps we were the obvious favourites, and that is not the case here, but I have been dreaming about making sure that run continues and that they feel defeat again while I enjoy victory.

"I know it will be tough, but I hope they remember those games from before.

"Silva is such a wonderful player and his touch on the ball is exquisite. He has a unique vision of the game and is the Spanish motor in the City side.

"As for Aguero, our defenders will need to keep their eye on him for the full 90 minutes. He works in the space between the defenders and on their shoulders.

"We also need to make sure he is not allowed the space to turn and run and dribble at our back four.

"He is so dangerous when he does that because he is very skilful and helps to generate mistakes from those around him.

"Spurs are playing the best football and are at the highest level since I arrived in 2010. But we have not won anything, which remains a problem, so there is so much at stake in this game."
