SPL will not present Celtic with trophy after Rangers clash

Scottish Premier League chiefs insist they will not present Celtic with their imminent Premiership trophy when the club hosts Rangers at the end of April.

The Hoops have two away games in the league - against Kilmarnock this weekend and Motherwell on April 22 - and should wrap up the title in that time.

Their next fixture at Parkhead will be against Old Firm rivals Rangers on April 29 where the fans are expected to celebrate but there will be no silverware exchange according to a SPL spokesperson.

"We'll make an announcement in due course but Celtic won't be presented with the SPL trophy at the Old Firm game," said the spokesperson.

"I don't think anyone would expect us to present it after the Old Firm match but we'll let everyone know soon."
