Chelsea youngster Jordan Houghton has started the season in fine fashion for loan side Gillingham, and continued that form with a man of the match display in the Gills' 2-0 win against Wigan Athletic on Sunday.
The 19-year-old put in a superb display, winning possession and creating the opening goal for Bradley Dack, before playing a superb ball which Luke Norris should have done better with not long after.
The defensive midfielder was named as the best player on the pitch as his side continued their fine start to the League Oe season, having now collected three wins from their first four games.
Houghton is on a five-month loan deal at Priestfield Stadium, and has impressed many in his short time there thus far.
The youngster has spoken of his desire to play first team football in order to catch the eye of Blues manager Jose Mourinho, something he is likely to be doing in the not-too-distant future given his performances thus far.
“It's just trying to take experience from these opportunities," Houghton has said.
“I haven't really been a first-team squad player (for Chelsea) so maybe I'm just a number at the moment.
“I've just got to go out and try and catch (Jose's) eye if I can.
“I wanted to come here, get games and minutes in men's football – that's the main thing I wanted to achieve."
Another great win for us yesterday! Very proud to receive my first MOM award! Thanks for all the messages #Gillspic.twitter.com/M8qKwilR0O
