Spartak Moscow failed to prise Roman Pavlyuchenko away from Tottenham yesterday.
The Daily Mail says Spartak general manager Valeri Karpin has revealed his club made two offers for their former striker, who they sold for £13.8m last summer.
Spartak were prepared to pay either £9m for an immediate transfer or about £900,000 for a one-year loan with the option of making the deal permanent for £10.5m.
