MOSCOW: French club Olympique Marseille breezed into the Champions League Round of 16 with a solid 3-0 away win over Russian club Spartak Moscow.
France international Mathieu Valbuena kicked things off for his club in the 18th minute when he turned and curled home, reacting quickly to Gabriel Heinze's cross.
Ten minutes after the break, Loic Remy made it 2-0 when he made the most of his miscue by slotting home after the ball fortuitously fell to him before Spartak's chances took a major blow when Welliton was sent off in the 64th minute.
Four minutes after that, Marseille took a 3-0 lead when Brandao fired home to wrap up the points and send the club into the second phase.
