Spain coach Moreno praises De Gea after defeating Faroe Islands

Spain coach Robert Moreno praised David de Gea after their 4-0 win over the Faroe Islands on Sunday evening.

Two late goals made the result a little more flattering, but La Roja did need the Manchester United stopper to come up with a big save in the second half against Joannes Bjartalid when the score was at 2-0.

"I'm very satisfied," Moreno said afterwards. "We've achieved something in a week, with two teams changing systems.

"And we were reminded that De Gea saves games.

"It's something that we knew, but it seemed to be forgotten.

"I'm glad he made that stop.

"It raises the competition."

Paco Alcacer came off the bench to score two late goals, which was good news for Moreno after the Borussia Dortmund man also scored in Romania.

"He got his goal," the coach said.

"It's a privilege to have him, as it is with Rodrigo [Moreno].

"All the Spanish strikers have to know that there's a lot of competition."

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos hit 167 caps for La Roja, a feat that didn't go unnoticed by Moreno.

"I have congratulated him," he confirmed.

"He approached me to tell me to give Unai [Nunez] his debut."
