Spain boss Luis de la Fuente has explained his reason for substituting David Raya in a friendly on Friday.

The shot stopper came off after 45 minutes for a 1-0 defeat to Colombia, which was his fourth game for the national team.

Arsenal's no.1 was replaced by Alex Remiro, who was making his debut for the national team.

"We wanted them to live this experience," de la Fuente told Spanish broadcasters RTVE.

"They are important players with a great future. They still have a long career ahead of them.

We learn more from defeats than from victories. We are satisfied with a lot of things. We wanted to test ourselves and continue to improve."
