Spain boss del Bosque relieved for Swansea's Michu

Spain manager Vicente del Bosque admits he is delighted with the impression Michu has made in his first call-up to the national team.

The 27-year old Swansea City forward has been called in as a replacement for the injured David Villa for Friday's World Cup qualifier against Belarus and Tuesday's meeting with Georgia and del Bosque is happy to see him enjoying his time with La Furia Roja despite being overlooked on a number of occasions.

"An international manager should try to be active picking some players up for the team," he said.

"Sometimes we have to say sorry because we weren't active calling Michu because the first impression is really good.

"Maybe we haven't been active bringing him up but sometimes it depend on the circumstances because we have a lot of players who are starters for us and we just can pick up 23 players.

"But the first impression is really positive and we are happy all the normality we are getting from the new players coming. We are really glad about that."
