Southgate unhappy with media portrayal over treatment of Liverpool fullback Alexander-Arnold

England manager Gareth Southgate says he is surprised by the narrative around Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Three Lions coach has been accused of being “anti-Trent" as he has often not picked the Liverpool right-back in his starting line-ups.

Southgate has tended to prefer Reece James or Kieran Trippier, or even Kyle Walker, in the right-back position.

A report from the Telegraph's Jason Burt states that Southgate is not happy about the way the media has covered the situation.

He believes that Alexander-Arnold is not being helped by the situation, which is impacted his form at club level as well.

Another player around whom there is a lot of speculation is Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.
