Southend United are hoping to bring goalkeeper Ted Smith back to the club.
But they are facing a hurdle in interest from Tottenham Hotspur, per the Basildon Canvey Southend Echo.
The 24-year-old keeper was released in the summer, but has kept training with Southend since then.
After they lost Nathon Bishop to Manchester United, they want to tie down Smith as a replacement.
But he could go to Spurs, where he was on trial for the start of this season.
Smith knows he would have more first team opportunities with Southend, but the lure of the Premier League may push him to the London club.
