James Ward-Prowse intends to force his way into the England senior squad in the not too distant future.
The Southampton midfielder, 20, recently captained Gareth Southgate's U21 side which caught the attention of senior boss Roy Hodgson who admitted he was a big admirer of the talent.
After opening his Premier League scoring account with a penalty in Saturday's 2-0 win over Hull City, Ward-Prowse made it clear that his future plans are to be involved with the Three Lions.
"It is obviously pleasing to hear that praise from the England manager. That is a goal of mine, to reach that level," he said.
"At the minute, I am focused on the under-21s and making sure we have a good summer (at the European Championships).
"As long as I can do that then hopefully that will see me promoted to the first-team, but I obviously have got to keep doing a good job here as well."
