Jason Puncheon would like to see former Southampton boss Nigel Adkins land the Reading job.

The Royals parted company with Brian McDermott on Monday.

Saints midfielder Puncheon told the Daily Echo: "Reading's out there for him, I suppose. His name is getting touted about and I think he can do a job for them.

"Nigel's proved that while he was here [at Southampton] and I think he will get another job and I do wish him all the best when he does get that."
