Southampton will challenge West Ham United for Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez at the end of the season.
Chicharito is currently on-loan at Real Madrid.
The Mail on Sunday says Southampton are set to make a move for Hernandez when the transfer window opens.
The Saints believe they could pip West Ham in a move for the Mexican forward by offering Nathaniel Clyne to United for a reduced fee of £20m.
