Joey Veerman is being tipped to soon leave SC Heerenveen.

A confirmed target for Southampton, the midfielder was again outstanding in the weekend's 2-2 draw with PSV.

Local pundit Pierre Vermeulen told De Telegraaf: “I have seen him play before at FC Volendam and that boy is developing very quickly. A player to keep an eye on. I expect that he will make the step to a bigger club in a relatively short term and that we will also see him back in Oranje in the long term.

"He has the qualities for that and that is only good for Dutch football."

Southampton international scout Piet Buter stated in October: "He is of course a very good football player.

"And it would be foolish not to follow a 21-year-old boy with those qualities. He is a game player with great technique. He has very good insight into the game, a nice pass and takes all corners and free kicks. An interesting player."
