Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin is understood to be on the verge of finalising a move to Manchester United.

Sky Sports is reporting the 25-year-old French international underwent a medical at United's Carrington training base on Sunday evening.

Despite the signing of Bayern Munich's German international Bastian Schweinsteiger, it is understood United boss Louis van Gaal has never wavered in his desire to bring Schneiderlin to Old Trafford.

It is understood that Schneiderlin's signing will be completed in time for the midfielder to join his new teammates on the Red Devils' pre-season tour of the United States.
