Southampton striker Graziano Pelle has revealed that Fiorentina were in pursuit of him last winter.
The 29-year old, who has been included in Antonio Conte's Azzurri squad for Euro2016 qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Malta this weekend, was the subject of interest from La Viola last January but he admits they did not have the money to secure him.
Pelle was with Dutch club Feyenoord at the time but a deal did not go through which allowed him to move to Southampton in the summer where he has since scored four goals in the Premier League.
"There was some contact (in January) but the problem is that abroad there is money," said Pelle.
"Feyenoord took advantage and asked for a lot of money, so in reality the contact only meant a small chance of them taking me to Italy.
"Fiorentina would have been a nice destination, but I am happy with how things worked out."
