Southampton to offer Clyne new deal in bid to keep Liverpool at bay

Southampton are intent on keeping Nathaniel Clyne at the club amidst interest from Liverpool.

Reports suggest that the Reds could look to make a move for the 23-year old full-back in January ahead of a potential summer transfer.

Clyne, who comes out of contract at the end of the season, has started in each of England's past two matches which has prompted the Saints to go about putting an improved offer together.

Liverpool have already pilfered a number of players from St Mary's recently, including Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert, and the south coast outfit will be desperate not to lose another quality player to Anfield.

Clyne arrived at Southampton from Crystal Palace as a free agent in 2012 and has continually made strides forward under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino and now Ronald Koeman.
