Southampton made a scouting check on Celtic centre-half Virgil van Dijk recently.
The Saints have been showing interest in the Dutch defender in the latter half of the season and could make a play for him in the summer transfer window.
23-year old van Dijk is also a target for Arsenal, Sunderland and Everton and will cost any interested parties around £8million.
