Southampton goalkeeper Kelvin Davis completely understands why Nathaniel Clyne joined Liverpool.

Nathaniel Clyne sealed his £12.5million move to Liverpool on Wednesday and considering the fact that the defender has been one of the best full-backs in the Premier League, his loss is certainly a big blow for the Saints.

Club captain Davis was also disappointed to see Clyne leave the St. Mary's Stadium but stated that he completely understands why the 24-year old has departed for Anfield.

"I think Clyney, since the time he's been here, has enjoyed the resources of this football club, having a fantastic place to play football and to grow, not just on the pitch, but off the pitch as well," Davis told the Daily Echo "You never want to see your better players go, but, at the same time, you understand that it happens and we've proven before that we can move on after that situation."
