Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is eager to bring forward a permanent deal for Toby Alderweireld.

The Daly Star says Koeman will try to rush through a permanent deal for on-loan Atletico Madrid defender Alderweireld when the transfer window re-opens.

Saints have already agreed a bargain £6.3m fee with Atletico to sign the Belgian World Cup star full-time in the summer but the Spanish champions have a £1.5m clause to cancel the agreement.

Koeman wants to get Champions League runner-up and La Liga winner Alderweireld tied down to fend off interest from rival clubs.
