Southampton must up their bid to land Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo.
Saints boss Ronald Koeman has made a move for the Argentina international, who can play at centre-half and left-back.
Record says a bid of €14 million was lodged by Saints last week, which fell short of Sporting's valuation and quickly rejected.
Sporting are willing to sell, but are banking on an auction being sparked by Southampton's opening bid.
The Lisbon are seeking closer to €18 million to cash in on Rojo.
