Ronald Koeman is hoping Jack Cork will sign a new contract with Southampton.
The 25-year old midfielder's current deal expires at the end of the season but Koeman is confident he will commit to the Saints despite making just 11 Premier League appearances this term.
"He can stay. The board of the club is talking to him and to his agent and we offer a contract," said the Dutchman.
"Jack Cork by himself has to say yes or no. We're waiting for that."
Former Chelsea youngster Cork has been at St Mary's Stadium since the summer of 2011 and has since made 150 appearances for the south coast club.
