Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is backing Dick Advocaat to keep Sunderland up.
Koeman played under Advocaat for Holland at the 1994 World Cup.
Koeman said: "He came in and Sunderland were already in a difficult situation.
"With Advocaat and Sunderland it's shorter-term and in that situation it's so difficult.
"They are really in a difficult situation but always in the last part of the season you have surprises in results.
"Advocaat will give them the fighting spirit right to the last second to stay in the Premier League.
"Of course he can still do it but it's a lot of pressure for them."
