Southampton boss Jones explains Walcott substitution

Southampton manager Nathan Jones revealed that winger Theo Walcott was forced off during a Carabao Cup win as a result of injury.

Walcott did not finish the Saints' contest against Lincoln on Tuesday, which they won 2-1.

Now Jones has stated that the ex-England international was being troubled with a tight calf that forced him off around the 60th minute.

Jones told reporters, per Daily Echo: “It was a tight calf.

“He did it in the first minute when he crossed one in, he felt it, so that was unfortunate for him, because he has been excellent in the five or six weeks I have had to work with him."
