Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl was delighted with Shane Long's contribution in a 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday.
33-year-old Long, out of contract in the summer, got on the scoresheet when he connected on Moussa Djenepo's cross.
Asked about the Irishman's performance, Hasenhuttl said: "We have spoken about having time to speak to the players about their contracts. He showed again that he can score for us and that he works hard for us.
"In general, I must say our four strikers did a fantastic job, even if they didn't all score.
"It's a luxury problem for me to have four strikers on the bench fighting for two positions. This is what we need."
