Southampton boss Hasenhuttl confirms Romeu injury blow

Southampton have suffered an injury blow with Oriol Romeu facing time on the sidelines.

Romeu is set to miss Saturday's FA Cup game against Shrewsbury Town due to a calf problem.

The Spaniard was a late withdrawal from the Saints squad to face Liverpool, pulling up with the muscle concern in training on Sunday.

Whilst he finished the session, Romeu was unable to feature against the Reds, with Ibrahima Diallo coming in to take his spot and helping Saints to a memorable 1-0 victory.

Asked for an update on the midfielder, boss Ralph Hasenhuttl said: "Ori is maybe one or two weeks out, hopefully for the Leicester game (on January 16) he is back."

Romeu has been an important figure for Saints this season, starting 15 of their 17 top-flight matches.
