Southampton boss Burley unsure of Sunderland, Derby target Jones future

Southampton boss George Burley is continuing to play down the transfer speculation regarding striker Kenwyne Jones' proposed £5million switch to the Premier League.

The Trinidad and Tobago international, a target for Derby and Sunderland, handed in a transfer request last week and the club then revealed he had asked not to be considered for Saturday's home game against Stoke.

The 22-year-old looks to have played his last game for Saints, but Burley is merely concentrating on the members of his squad who do want to play and their upcoming trip to QPR.

"The transfer speculation has not been great but we have nothing to add to our statement," said Burley.

"At the moment, no-one knows what is going to happen. The key thing is to get the players together and ready for Saturday's game at QPR."
