South African football chief Jordaan: 2010 need Beckham's England

South African football boss Danny Jordaan says England and David Beckham can make the 2010 World Cup the greatest ever.

Jordaan said: "I'd like to see Beckham come here with England.

"In 2002, I was the general coordinator for FIFA in Japan, and in the second round game between Denmark and England I had lined up all the Japanese kids we were using to hold the hand of each player when they walked out.

"I had the kids lined up on the Danish side, then England came out of their dressing room. When the kids saw Beckham they all ran to him to grab his hand.

"He is, by far, England's best football export and he would have a huge impact if he was here with England in 2010.

"That's not only from a media interest and marketing perspective but also in a general feel good factor towards England.

"Beckham is huge and I just hope he can still be influential on the field by 2010 because I think he has a desire to do that. I hope the coach believes that, too."
