South Africa name squad to take on Australia, NZ

South Africa national team boss Gordon Igesund has named an 18-man squad for next month's friendly with Australia.

Bafana Bafana meet the Socceroos at ANZ Stadium in Sydney on May 26 just two days before the hosts jet off to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup.

Among the names selected by Igesund include Crystal Palace's Kagisho Dikgacoi (club teammate of Socceroos teammate Mile Jedinak), Ajax midfielder Thulani Serero, AFC Bournemouth striker Tokelo Rantie and Belgium-based trio Anele Ngcongca (Genk), Andile Jali (Oostende) and Ayanda Patosi (Lokeren).

"I believe I have selected players capable of doing us proud Down Under in the two matches," Igesund said.

"We are also happy to have been given the opportunity to assist Australia in their preparations for the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil.

"This is a chance we could not miss. We hope our match will be of great assistance."

Four days after meeting Australia, South Africa will travel to Auckland to take on New Zealand in another friendly.
