Fiorentina coach Paulo Sousa is angry after their Coppa Italia defeat to Carpi.

The Viola went into the tie clear favourites.

“I am both angry and disappointed," said Sousa.

“This was not a result I was thinking of, but when you play in a competition like this then it can happen.

“It was not a good night, but we created a great deal and just couldn't get the ball in the net. The team tried to resolve the game by itself with individual moments of skill and we got stretched out, allowing our opponents to hurt us on the counter-attack.

“We paid a heavy price for that approach."
