Souness slams Chelsea midfield: Mix is all wrong

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness slammed Chelsea for their defeat to Everton.

Souness didn't hold back when it came to assessing the midfield options available to Maurizio Sarri, and their lack of attacking impetus to back up star man Eden Hazard.

"They must be a brilliant 5-a-side team," said Sky Sports pundit Souness after the match.

"They totally dominated possession, they had twice as many touches of the ball and lose 2-0.

"If you have that much of the ball, you have it on the halfway line or in your own half.

"They are playing like a 5-a-side team - you take Hazard out, where is the threat?

"You have got a midfield that is made up of Kante, who doesn't score goals, Jorginho who has scored two and a penalty, and Barkley.

"The mix is totally wrong. If you insist on playing Jorginho, who is neat and tidy, you need a goal threat either side.

"They are relying on Hazard to produce the goods week in week out and it is too much.

"That is why they look like they won't finish in the top four."
