Retired Danish goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has spoken of missing out on a move to Manchester City.
Sorensen reveals in 2011 he was blocked by Stoke City from joining the Premier League giants.
He recalled to Spillerforeningens magasin Indersiden: "I accepted that it was the way it was. But today I would like to have tried to play for one of the big clubs in England and have a few championships in the cv.
"I have often asked myself if I could have done anything else. But if I should have pushed a sale through, I should have been on my hind legs and been a stupid pig and then refused to play more for Stoke if I was not allowed to go.
"It was perhaps the chance of my life, yet I would have compromised the person I am. Although I really wanted to go to Manchester City, I'm not sure I would have been good with it today if I had done wrong.
"Today, it also means to me that they always welcome me with open arms in the three clubs in England, where I have had many good years. I have never slammed the door."
