The son of Arsenal hero Andrey Arshavin is impressing with Barcelona's academy.

Arseny Arshavin was named Player of the Week for his age group just last week and is quickly making a name for himself inside the La Masia academy.

Arshavin Snr, formerly of Arsenal and Zenit St Petersburg, never played for Barca - though several times during his career came close to signing for the Blaugrana.

On the day of his retirement a year ago, Arshavin confessed that “Barcelona offered Zenit €15m, but the club rejected the offer. Honestly, they didn't want to sell me".

Arshavin was referring to the summer of 2008.

Arseny is playing for 'Team Messi' at Barca this season.
